I have lately cancelled that part of the

Rule which allowed Exchange Compensation on the Ration Allow-

ances of European Police because when such allowances were

recently granted to Police employed in the New Territery it

was not intended that Exchange Compensation should be paid on

them and the allowances were fixed accordingly.

The question of the continuance of the

office of Chief Clerk to the Medical Officer of Health is

being considered and a further report on the subject will be

forwarded to you.

Mr. Boulton's salary is as you point out

wrongly quoted on an incremental scale. The mistake probably

are se fram the fact that the salaries of all the other

Engineers in the Department are on the incremental system.

For the latter reason and alse because Mr. Boulton is a very
